CultureCan Blur Bring Split Screen Back?By Stephen Totilo on September 8, 2009 at 2:00 AM In the five years I have been covering video games professionally there’s one thing a video game company had never asked me to do until Activision did last week: Play their new game in four-player split screen. We might as well have been back in 1997 playing GoldenEye or something at Activision’s PAX-week event in Seattle last week.Twenty-first-century gaming publicity events just don’t involve four-player sNewsPaul McCartney Hasn’t Played Beatles: Rock BandBy Luke Plunkett on September 8, 2009 at 12:20 PM A big fuss was made of the mere fact Paul & Ringo were at Microsoft’s E3 presser, but less fuss was made of the fact they looked awkward and out of place. Almost as if they couldn’t give a shit. Now, that may be true, it may not be true, we’ll probably never know. But when you hear Paul McCartney say stuff like this, well… I haven’t, actually . I’m kind of, you know, looking forward to

NewsSony Backs Down On 3D Gaming TimelineBy Luke Plunkett on September 7, 2009 at 6:30 PM At the IFA Consumer Electronics show in Berlin last week, a Sony rep told Engadget that 3D gaming would be coming to “all” PS3 games via a firmware update in 2010. Turns out he may have been slightly exaggerating.Sony corporate quickly reached out to clarify the rep’s statements, saying that when it comes to 3D and the PS3, at the moment all that’s going on is “a technological investigation”, with “no plan CultureCould Gaming Soon Overshadow Music In Seattle?By Brian Crecente on September 8, 2009 at 1:00 AM This weekend two giant shows took over Seattle: One dedicated to music, the other to video games. But only one of them is growing.Bumbershoot, Settle’s annual international music and arts festival, has been drawing a crowd to the Seattle centre since 1971 when 125,000 visitors showed. This year attendance appears to be down, though final numbers aren’t yet available. Last year it was down as w

Ahhh, stretching my blogging legs once again. As my official return post, I pondered whether to write up some new game or maybe some feel-good community thingy. Then I thought, frak it, I wanna spew some venom. My target? The crappy design of the PAX booths. So, sit back, relax and prepare to get an eyeful of virtual venom as I ponder: what the frak is wrong with the PAX booths? Navigating to a game booth at PAX is crazy. It's been a busy - and good - week for Microsoft . Not only did they successfully implement the price drops, they've also successfully reaped in the benefits. Too early to say, yes, I know, but with a strong number of 43 up in sales , it's no wonder there's more bounce in their steps as of late. After all, they're not at the bottom of the pile when it comes to hardware sales, if you catch my drift. But hardware is not the only thing that went on Hands OnSouth Park Let’s Go Tower Defense Play! CultureWhat Are You Playing This Weekend? By David Wildgoose on September 5, 2009 at 12:00 PM While I suspect many of you will be playing Batman, Batman and nothing but Batman this weekend, I’ll be delving back a few years to catch up with something I missed the first time round.I was a little late to the Wii party, picking it up only at the start of this year. Even though I bought a few games with it, Super Mario Galaxy among them, I’ve yet to really sit down and dedicate myself to it. I did plHeavy Rain is one of the more hotly anticipated PlayStation 3 exclusives, and while the initial screens looked great it wasn’t exactly easy to see how the game played. Point and click adventure? Survival horror? Who knew? After having played the demo I can now tell you exactly how it plays. It plays like Shenmue . You have a world that’s infinitely populated with objects. The demo featured a scene in a convenience store, and the objects on the shelves are actual objects, not painted on the bIt was nearly 6 o’clock, and though the event wasn’t scheduled to start until 7:30, already hundreds of people were claiming their place in line to get into one of the hottest events of the day. I had already been boxed out of Halo 3: ODST earlier because I was coming from an interview, so I was not going to miss this one. After a lot of sitting, and moving, and sitting, we were all finally let into the theatre. I found myself seated in the 4th row, a mere 8 feet from

MediaNew Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Screens Assassinate SubtletyBy Michael McWhertor on September 5, 2009 at 8:00 AM Team Ninja’s not necessarily known for their restraint, as new Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 screen shots helpfully illustrate. There’s a heavy emphasis on co-op action, should you be able to decipher what’s happening on screen here.Plenty of shots of Ryu, Ayane, Rachel and Momiji in their alternate costumes here, as well as a good look at Fiend Ryu, that sonofabitch some of you may remember froNewsCompany Says It Can Predict Review Scores A Year In AdvanceBy Owen Good on September 5, 2009 at 10:30 AM A UK company named Vertical Slice claims it’s able to predict video game review scores a year in advance of release, by reverse engineering magazine reviews, combined with an analysis method used by marriage counsellors.Speaking to Eurogamer—you really should read the entire story—Vertical Slice director Graham McAllister boils down the process to two things: backtracking through 154 Edge

Quite honestly, I usually don't play 360 shooters online. GOW was/is stupid, it's an arcade game, and isn't realistic one bit.

Complimenti!!
